Cox High School Gay-Straight Alliance
to host evening event Jan. 30

Cox High School’s Gay-Straight Alliance (GSA) will hold an evening assembly, “Love is Love: A Celebration of Gay-Straight Alliance” on Monday, Jan. 30, at 6:30 p.m., in the school’s auditorium. This event was previously scheduled for earlier this week, but was postponed in order to schedule a time outside of school for students to attend. This event will also be open to the public.

“Inspiring and motivating students is of the upmost importance to me. I am looking forward to helping my students move forward as they share a message of inclusion to the student body and community,” said Victoria Sachar-Milosevich, GSA sponsor and special education teacher.

Additionally, Cox High School will host a schoolwide assembly, tentatively scheduled for Feb. 24, on diversity and acceptance of all people. During this time, school counselors will lead a presentation and discussion about respect and inclusiveness. The assembly will include GSA students as well as members of other student clubs and representatives from community organizations.

“Cox High School supports all students regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, religion, disability, national origin or sexual orientation. Educating all students in a safe, accepting environment is a priority at our school, and we encourage and applaud our students’ inclusive efforts,” said Cox High School Principal Dr. Randi Riesbeck.
