Higher education opportunities featured
at College Night Oct. 25

Representatives from more than 170 colleges, universities, proprietary schools and the military will be present at Virginia Beach City Public Schools’ (VBCPS) College Information Night Tuesday, Oct. 25, from 5:30-8 p.m. at the Virginia Beach Convention Center.

The free event will feature exhibits for students and parents to learn more about postsecondary education options, programs of study, admission requirements and student life. In addition to speaking with representatives, participants may attend one of two financial aid seminars scheduled for 6 p.m. and 7 p.m.

“We appreciate that so many institutions will be present at College Night because we know our students and their families begin gathering information about higher education as early as middle school,” said Dr. Aaron Spence, VBCPS superintendent. “The event is an excellent opportunity to speak with representatives, ask questions and learn more about financial aid as students research and explore options for postsecondary education and employment.”

College Information Night is sponsored by the division’s Office of Student Support Services. The office also maintains Scholarship Central, an online resource for high school students to review scholarship websites and search a database of scholarship opportunities. Scholarship Central is updated regularly throughout the school year as submissions are received by the Office of Student Support Services.

For more information about College Information Night or Scholarship Central, contact the Office of Student Support Services at 757-263-1980.
