At its Tuesday, Sept. 18 meeting, the Virginia Beach School Board approved the appointment of William W. Harris to principal of Kempsville High School. Harris, a 32-year veteran of public education, will replace Evangeline Petrich who relocated from the Hampton Roads area in August. His appointment took effect immediately. A native of Massachusetts, Harris spent most of his career teaching and leading schools in Keene, N.H. He most recently served as principal of Benjamin Franklin Elementary School in Keene, but prior to that served in various roles at the elementary and high school levels including a stint as assistant principal of Keene High School. Harris holds a Bachelor of Science in Science and Elementary Education and a master's degree in educational administration from Keene State College, and a Certificate of Advanced and Graduate Studies/ Educational Leadership from Plymouth State University. He is a member of several professional organizations including the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development and the National Association of Elementary/Secondary School Principals. |
