COMMUNITY RELATIONS

School News: Division-wide and Individual School

A.  Division-wide School News

News items which may reflect a division-wide policy or practice must be approved by the superintendent, or a designee, prior to release to news media.

B.  Individual School News

The School Board encourages the dissemination of news regarding individual school events and the activities of the students. The superintendent shall encourage the news media to give coverage to these events. The superintendent shall develop such regulations as are necessary to ensure that each school has a proper authority through whom reliable information may be transmitted to the news media.

School news releases should receive careful editing under staff supervision to assure acceptable standards of content and journalism.
