Regulation 7-36.1

COMMUNITY RELATIONS

Soliciting from/by School Personnel

A.  Solicitations on School Premises and Work Sites

1.  Any employee or group of employees seeking to sell merchandise to other employees must first receive approval from the principal or the supervisor of the work site.

2.  Principals and supervisors will evaluate such requests according to the following criteria:

a.  Relevancy and benefit to the office or work site function;

b.  Potential for interference with normal work schedules;

c.  Safety factors;

d.  Conflict of interests.

3.  Upon receipt of permission, individuals or groups may sell merchandise so long as solicitation does not interfere with routine performance of duties.

B.  Community-Wide Solicitations

Any employee organization seeking to engage in a fund-raising project or solicitation in the community-at-large must first receive approval from the Deputy Superintendent. The Deputy Superintendent will evaluate such requests according to the following criteria:

a.  Purpose - to include allocation of funds;

b.  Appropriateness of the fund-raising activities;

c.  Potential competition with private sector enterprises;

d.  Schedule of other community-wide fund raising events;

e.  Potential to raise funds.

Upon receiving permission the organization's promotion shall not imply endorsement by the school board.
