COMMUNITY RELATIONS

Guidance Advisory Council

A.  Generally

The guidance advisory council is a group of persons representative of those groups affected by the guidance program; parents, teachers, student personnel services staff, employers, community organizations, and governmental agencies.

B.  Primary Functions

The council's primary functions shall be to assist in the development of a comprehensive (K-12) student-centered guidance program, to audit its results, and recommend priorities to school administrators.

C.  Appointment/Term of Office

Council members shall be appointed by the superintendent, or a designee, for a period of two years on a rotating basis.

D. Meetings/Agenda/Minutes

The council shall have a published schedule of meetings and agenda items. Minutes of council meetings shall be available for review.

E.  Chairperson

The chairperson shall be a council member other than an administrator or counselor.

F.  Work Plan

A plan of work designed to achieve its primary functions shall be developed by the council.

G.  Reports

Periodic reports shall be submitted to the assistant superintendent for instructional support services.
