COMMUNITY RELATIONS

Interagency Committee for Adult Basic Education

Under the board's guidelines for citizens' advisory committees an interagency committee for adult basic education shall be activated.

A.  Purpose

The committee shall advise the school board on setting goals, planning programs, operating and evaluating the adult basic education program.

B.  Membership

1.  The number of lay members is determined by the number of participating organizations.

2.  The number of staff members shall be determined by the superintendent.

C.  Selection and Term of Office

Lay members shall be appointed by the business industry or service activity they represent for a three-year period of service.

Staff members are appointed by the superintendent and may be rotated.

D.  Chairperson

The administrative staff member responsible for the adult basic education program shall serve as chairperson.

E.  Reports

Periodic reports may be submitted to the school board as the committee membership deems advisable.
