INSTRUCTION
Guidance/Social Work Services
- Guidance Services
Guidance personnel shall be assigned to the schools in such a counselor-student ratio as will satisfy Virginia Board of Education regulations for accreditation as cited in the legal reference to this policy.
Guidance personnel shall follow state and federal regulations relating to the use of tests and other materials for appraising or counseling students to ensure that such materials do not discriminate on the basis of sex or disability.
- Social Work Services
School social work services shall be provided in the division to recognize and to provide for the individual needs and differences of students. These services shall include individual student consultation; consultation with parents, teachers, principals, and other administrators; development of social/cultural evaluations; in-service training to school personnel to serve as a liaison with appropriate community agencies; and other functions which address the broad range of student needs.
