INSTRUCTION
Instructional Materials
A. The Department of Instructional Support Services will publish and distribute to principals a list of basic and supplemental materials for use in the school division.
1. Basic materials are defined as those textbooks and materials which all schools must have to implement the educational program.
2. Supplemental materials are those items which each school has some choice in purchasing. Items on this list have been approved by the Department of Instructional Support Services for use in classrooms to meet the goals of the curriculum; however, purchase of these materials is not essential.
3. Teachers and counselors will use those materials on the basic and supplemental lists.
B. The Department of Instructional Support Services will develop procedures for receiving suggestions for materials to be added to or deleted from the materials list.
1. School staffs will be advised of the procedures.
2. Appropriate forms will be available in all schools.
C. Instructional Supplies and Materials
Reasonable administrative efforts commensurate with the approved curriculum will be made to insure that adequate instructional supplies and materials are furnished each teacher.
Procedures for teachers to follow in securing available supplies and materials will be established at the building level and incorporated in the teachers' handbook.
