INSTRUCTION

Middle School Activities Program

The School Board authorizes the establishment of a middle school activities program under the following guidelines:

  1. Implement an intramural program similar to the one outlined in the Middle School Activities proposal.
  2. Complement the objectives of the regular health and physical education program with intramural/city-wide activities.
  3. Develop intramural activities for students with special needs that will complement the adaptive physical education program as well as the Special Olympics program.
  4. Emphasize the "all participation" intramural philosophy in all middle school activities programs.
  5. Expand the activities program to include, but not limited to, cheerleading club, forensics club, debate club and drama club.
  6. Develop a handbook that describes activities and skills as well as the structure and organization of programs appropriate for middle school students.
  7. Provide student leadership training through programs offered by the Office of Student Leadership – Student Activities Office.
