INSTRUCTION

Guidance and Counseling

The school division shall offer a comprehensive K-12 guidance and counseling program that is an integral part of each school’s total educational program designed to promote the academic, career, and personal/social development of all students. No student shall be required to participate in any guidance and counseling program to which the student's parent/guardian object. Purposes and objectives of the program shall reflect the developmental needs of students and be developed by the coordinator of guidance services with an advisory committee consisting of level specific guidance counselors and shall include parents. All programs and services shall be in compliance with state regulations, Standards for School Counseling Programs in Virginia Public Schools.
