Regulation 6-13.1

INSTRUCTION

School Hours

A. Elementary School Hours

1. Kindergarten

The school hours for kindergarten are as follows:

1. "A schools":

1. 8:00 a.m. - 11:10 a.m.; or
2. 11:20 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.

2. "B schools":

1. 8:30 a.m. - 11:40 a.m.; or
2. 11:50 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

2. Grades 1-5

The school hours for grades 1-5 are as follows:

1. "A schools" are in session from 8:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.

2. "B schools" are in session 8:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

3. Old Donation Center students attend the select school from 8:20 a.m. to 2:50 p.m.

2. Middle School Hours

The school hours for middle school students are 9:10 a.m. - 3:40 p.m., except that Kemps Landing Magnet School students attend school from 8:10 a.m. - 3:13 p.m. and Center for Effective Learning students attend school from 7:50 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

3. High School Hours

The school hours for high school students are 7:25 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. except for the following schools: the school hours for Open Campus are 8:20 a.m. - 2:55 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. – 9:20 p.m.; the school hours for Virginia Beach Central Academy are 7:45 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.; and the hours for the Technical and Career Education Center are 7:45 a.m. - 1:50 p.m.

This regulation shall be superseded by any changes to hours approved by the School Board during each school year and/or any adjustments to school hours approved by the Superintendent or designee due to unforeseen or emergency circumstances.
