BUSINESS AND NONINSTRUCTIONAL OPERATIONS

Environmental Barriers/Accessibility

A  .Generally

It is the desire of the board that the facilities of the division be made accessible and usable by disabled persons in accordance with state and federal regulations.

B.  .Existing Facilities

The superintendent is directed to initiate a survey of existing facilities and make such reports and recommendations that will accomplish the following:

1.  Identify physical obstacles in the division's facilities that.limit the accessibility of its programs and activities to disabled persons;

2.  Describe the methods that will be used to make the facilities accessible;

3.  Specify the schedule for taking the steps necessary to achieve full program accessibility; and

4.  Provide a cost estimate.

C.  New Construction

The design, construction or alteration of facilities shall be accomplished in conformance with the "American National Standard Specifications for Making Buildings and Facilities Accessible to, and Usable by, the Physically Handicapped," published by the American National Standards Institute, Inc. (ANSI).
