ADMINISTRATION

Superintendent: Powers/Duties/Responsibilities

A.  Generally

The superintendent of schools serves as the chief administrative officer of the school division. The superintendent shall perform those duties required by the Virginia Board of Education and the school board. The superintendent will provide leadership and direct the management of the school division in accordance with policies adopted by the school board. The superintendent will maintain effective relationships with staff, students, parents and community, area school divisions and colleges, the Virginia Department of Education and other municipal, state and federal agencies.

B. Performance Responsibilities

The superintendent's performance responsibilities shall be enumberated in a job description for the position.
