Announcing….a special edition of e-Kaleidoscope
Welcome to this special edition of e-Kaleidoscope. The issue is devoted to sharing information on the Center for Teacher Leadership and its mission and objectives as well as the new direction for the Professional Development (PD) Program. As you know, PD is the key through which we will move forward more expeditiously with the implementation of all the tenets of Compass to 2015. Our school division has long valued PD and the importance it holds in assisting teachers gain expertise and capacity.
Central to this transition and accomplishing this task will be the Center for Teacher Leadership. As you may know, the teacher leaders who compose the Center will work collaboratively with departments and schools to revise, revamp, and redesign the professional development program to meet the needs of teachers across the division. We invite you to meet them, up “close and personal.” You will find that collectively they have a wide array of experience and expertise on which they will draw as they assist in the transition of the PD program. As teachers have long pointed out, professional development is enhanced when it is delivered by practicing classroom teachers.
Finally, we are including additional details concerning when information about 2011-2012 PD offerings will be available as well as the sign-up dates and times for the offerings. There are also refreshers on how to sign up via the Training Information & Registration System (TIRS). Should you have questions, you can call the Center for Teacher Leadership at 263-1177.
