Is someone you know a candidate for a Superintendent’s Spotlight Award? Then nominate a “winner”!

As you know, Virginia Beach City Public Schools boasts hundreds of employees who work at the top of their game and then expand the parameters of their jobs to seek out additional challenges. Oftentimes they are “unsung” heroes in the workplace. For this reason Superintendent Jim Merrill instituted a prestigious recognition program – Superintendent’s Spotlight Award – two years ago as a way to recognize publicly these outstanding employees. But we need your help in identifying who they are.

If you work with someone who, in your opinion, makes it a practice to go above and beyond what is expected every day, please send in a nomination so this exemplary employee can be in the “Spotlight” and garner the kudos he or she deserves. As you are writing the nomination, please keep in mind the following criteria:

Award Criteria

The Office of Community Relations manages this awards program. If you would like to nominate someone, please click on the link for the nomination form, complete it, and send it to the director of Community Relations Melissa McQuarrie or via pony mail to Office of Community Relations, attn: Melissa McQuarrie, Central Administration Building. The announcement of first semester Spotlight Award winners will be made in January 2011 when Superintendent Dr. James Merrill personally visits each winner in a surprise visit to his or her school or office with the good news.
