The I Make A Difference award is given to an employee of the
school to recognize his or her accomplishments and contributions to
the educational process and to the students. Employees are nominated
by a fellow employee for the award.

Congratulations to Gail Maund, career resource specialist
at the Technical and Career Education Center, on being
awarded the Teacher of the Year award from the Rotary Club of Hampton
Roads. The award was announced in June and carried with it an honorarium
of $500.
Independence
Middle School is pleased to announce that seventh-grade science
teacher Ryan Sully was named Teacher of the Month for
April while sixth-grade English teacher Lisa Hughes
received the award for May.

Run Elementary congratulates Title I specialist Missy
Ludwick on receiving "Staff Member of the Quarter"
honors from the Green Run Homes Association.

to Advanced Technology Center computer network administration
II instructor Linda Lavender. Her student placed second
at the National SkillsUSA competition in Technical Computer Applications
in Kansas City, Missouri, in June.
William
Jackson, Advanced Technology Center modeling
and simulation instructor, was invited to present at the Virginia Technology
Education Association in August in Richmond. Jackson spoke to technical
and career education instructors about modeling and simulation curricula
and 3ds Max software.

Errata
Two
John B. Dey Elementary teachers featured in the
SchoolNet story in the June issue of e-Kaleidoscope were
misidentified. Sara Chiaverotti teaches kindergarten,
not fifth grade, while Lauren Collins is a K-1
special education teacher, not a kindergarten teacher. We regret
the error.
