Be specific when grounding your teen

If you choose to ground your teen as a consequence of misbehavior, consider these steps to make it effective: Ground her for a specific number of days, then take one day away for each day she behaves well. Be sure to clearly state where she may go outside of school. Your teen may not like being grounded, but let her know you will not tolerate sulking. And discuss how she can avoid being grounded again.
