How can I obtain an employment application?

- Visit the School Administration Building (building number six) located at 2512 George Mason Drive in Virginia Beach. Applications are available in the Human Resources department.
How do I submit my application?
What is the next step after I turn in my application?
- Applications are processed by the Department of Human Resources.
- A postcard, or e-mail if submitted electronically, acknowledging receipt of your application will be sent to you within two weeks.
- A Human Resources administrator, principal, or a hiring supervisor may contact you for an interview.
What is a screening interview?
- The Department of Human Resources may contact you for a screening interview. This is a preliminary interview for teachers.
- Applicants who have successful interviews are eligible for selection interviews by principals and other administrators.
What is a selection interview?
- Selection interviews occur at the building level.
- These interviews are for a specific position.
- The principal or administrator will make a recommendation to the Department of Human Resources to fill a vacancy.
How do I know what jobs are currently available?
How long is my application active?
- Applications are kept active for eighteen months.
How do I reactivate my application?
- All applications automatically become inactive after 18 months unless a request to reactivate has been made by the applicant.
- The Department of Human Resources will reactivate your application upon receipt of a written request.
- Written requests should include your social security number as well as any name, address, telephone number, certification and licensure changes that have occurred since completing your application.
How do I notify the Department of Human Resources with changes in my status?
- Applicants are encouraged to keep the Department of Human Resources informed of any changes that occur in the information submitted in the employment application.

How will I be notified of an employment offer?
- Principals and hiring supervisors forward employment recommendations to the Department of Human Resources.
- Offers are extended to applicants only from the Department of Human Resources.
- If selected for a position, a Human Resources staff member will contact you regarding your date of employment, salary, benefits, and terms and conditions of employment.
- You will be provided with a contract and other employment documents.
