All Virginia Beach City Public Schools' offices, schools, and centers will be operating on a modified summer work schedule beginning June 22. Summer School classes are in session June 30 - August 14.

NOTIFICATION PROCESS OF SCHOOL CLOSING OR CANCELLATIONS

Should schools be closed or cancelled due to an emergency, inclement weather, or any other condition that may affect the safety of our children and staff, parents and staff will be notified through a telephone call and/or e-mail using the AlertNow  notification system. For your convenience, an official notice pertaining to the status of the emergency and/or school operating hours will also be posted on the school division's Web site - vbschools.com. For school closings or delays due to inclement weather, local television and radio stations will be notified.

Should the operation hours of the schools be impacted by and emergency or inclement weather, staff will follow the emergency designation of employee categories by either Alpha (A), Beta (B), or Gamma (G) status (School Board Regulation 4-96.1).

The schools emergency hotline 757.263.1000 is in operation between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday – Friday.
