Served 8.48 million meals during 2011-2012 school year

The school division offers students and parents flexibility when paying for meals: on-line payment and in-person payment. Both systems reduce the need for elementary students to carry money to the cafeteria each day or students may also pay cash for their meals.

On-line Payment of Student Meals

Virginia Beach City Public Schools offers parents the opportunity to make payments – via ParentOnline – for their child’s meals (breakfast, lunch and a la carte items) using Visa, Mastercard, or a debit card. A small per-transaction convenience fee of 5 percent will be charged for each payment. This online service allows parents of students to prepay money directly into their child’s account; monitor their child’s food purchases; set up low-balance email reminders; and schedule recurring payments. It is important to note that ParentOnline is a new provider for this service, replacing MySchoolBucks. If your family had a balance left over in MySchoolBucks it was automatically transferred to ParentOnline. However, for parents to access parent online for school year 2012-13, a new account must be created. Pay for meals online.

In-person payment of Student Meals

In addition to paying cash for meals, all schools use a computerized point of service system, which allow students to have individual accounts for prepayment of meals/snacks and payment at the time of service. Student accounts are used for full price meals, reduced price meals, free meals and a la carte purchases.
