Vote for School Lunch is a chance for YOU to vote for your favorite lunch, from our 5 tasty and nutritious choices; Heddi Spaghetti, Rocco Taco, Sally Salad, Ricky Chicken and Pete Pizza.  Voting is taking place at www.VoteForSchoolLunch.org August 1 to October 6, 2006.  The winner will be announced during National School Lunch Week, October 9-13, 2006.

  • Created in 1962 by President John F. Kennedy
  • National School Lunch Week is a celebratory week of events and activities promoting the benefits of the National School Lunch Program

  • The National School Lunch Program began in 1946 and is the largest of the federal child nutrition programs
  • Congress appropriated $11.417 billion for the child nutrition programs for fiscal year 2005
  • 29 million children are served lunch every school day, in more than 99,000 schools
