Teacher Testimonials

Through intermittent surveys taken since the inception of the distance learning program, we asked teachers and students how the distance learning technology affected instruction. Teachers were candid in their responses, looking for the positive, and suggesting methods that may improve a continually changing medium. Among the comments were the following:

Check mark I would prefer different teaching options other than standing in one place.
Check mark More training on hardware/troubleshooting tips needed.
Check mark More time needed to prepare lessons.
Check mark Having only one distant site, I was able to keep all the class sites on camera most of the time.
Check mark The DL TA duties were much more enjoyable than previous possible TA assignments.
Check mark Duties are different but not harder.
Check mark Teachers need to come to the receiving sites more.
Check mark I loved the moderators (distance learning teacher assistants).
Check mark Support from school system and DL staff made instruction very doable.
Check mark Interdepartmental mail proved unreliable.
Check mark Students didn't take advantage of using e-mail.
Check mark I am more aware of the way I come across to my students.
Check mark You must make an effort to contact your distance students.
Check mark Be prepared for flexibility.
Check mark Preparation beforehand is key.
