High School Program (Grades 9-12)

The Parent/Student Course Information Documents included on this page outline the expectations for all core and elective courses offered in Virginia Beach City Public Schools’ 11 high schools and a number of secondary/post-secondary specialty centers, including the Renaissance Academy, Advanced Technology Center, Technical and Career Education Center – serving students in grades 9-12. In each high school, two programs of study are offered: Standard and Advanced Studies. For the advanced studies program, students must earn additional credits and must also take higher levels of science, mathematics, and foreign languages. For your convenience, the Secondary School Curriculum Guide is available to assist students and their parents with the selection of courses in the high school level.
