Virginia Beach City Public Schools
Alternative Education
Virginia Beach City Public Schools Alternative Education Program recognizes the many environments in which a student can be educated. Believing that all students can learn, the Department of Curriculum and Instruction, Office of Secondary Instructional Services seeks to develop and implement alternative education programs to meet the needs of students who are not experiencing success in regular secondary (grades 6-12) school settings. Alternative education centers and programs strive to ensure that every student finds a path to personal and community educational goals. Currently the school division operates two alternative centers for high school students and one alternative center for middle school students as well as seven specific programs that address targeted student needs.
