VBCPS Educational Technology Plan

The Department of Technology (DOT) developed a division-wide technology plan that documents the school division's vision for the future and provides a roadmap for achieving that vision. The VBCPS Educational Technology Plan addresses division-wide technology, supporting the school division's comprehensive strategic plan Compass to 2015.

The VBCPS Educational Technology Plan is evaluated annually through DOT to ensure continued alignment with School Board priorities; state and federal mandates; stakeholder expectations; and the ever-changing technology landscape. In developing and updating this plan, DOT utilizes several strategies to assess the technology needs of the division including learning walks, customer satisfaction surveys, face-to-face interviews with departmental leaders and representatives; and principal and community member focus groups.

The Virginia Department of Education adopted a six-year educational technology plan for Virginia titled Educational Technology Plan for Virginia: 2010-2015. Per the state's expectations for all school divisions, the VBCPS Educational Technology Plan is developed in a manner ensuring consistency with the objectives found in the statewide educational technology plan.
