The mission of the General Advisory Council for Technical and Career Education for the Virginia Beach City Public Schools is to endeavor to assist and advise technical and career education planners and administrators in the development, focus, and operation of technical and career education programs.

The membership includes local leaders from the areas of business, industry, and higher education.

The functions of the General Advisory Council are:

  • to promote expansion and quality of technical and career education programs in
    the schools.
  • to act as advisors, consultants, and advocates to all groups, to school guidance departments, and the total community concerning technical and career education preparation and opportunities.
  • to advocate advancement in program equipment and classroom technology.
  • to serve as the Virginia Governor’s Exemplary Standards Program reviewers for Virginia Beach City Public Schools.

Meetings are held quarterly at the Advanced Technology Center.
