The courses in engineering and technology provide opportunities for students to acquire skills and knowledge necessary for technological literacy, entry-level careers, and lifelong learning.

Engineering and Technology Strands and Courses offered in Virginia Beach high schools are:

Communication Technology Program
Students successfully completing the Communications Technology Program of Study will be prepared for the Adobe Photoshop certification and the NOCTI Industry Credential.

Computers and Communications Technology
Graphic Communications
Photography and Printing

Control Technology Program
Students successfully completing the Control Technology Program of Study will be prepared for the NOCTI Industry Credential in Electronics or Small Engines.

Physics of Technology Program
Students who complete Physics of Technology I and II may use these courses to satisfy one physics credit in laboratory science and one elective credit. A student must complete both courses in the sequence in order to receive laboratory science credit. Students who enroll in Physics of Technology courses for a physics credit must have completed Algebra I and two laboratory sciences courses as specified by the accrediting standards prior to enrolling in Physics of Technology.

Technical Design and Illustration Program
Students successfully completing the Technical Design and Illustration Program of Study will be prepared for the AutoCAD certification.

Technology Student Association (TSA) is a co-curricular organization for all students enrolled in engineering and technology courses. Students are encouraged to be active members of their youth organization to develop leadership and teamwork skills and to receive recognition for their participation in local, regional, state and national activities.
