This course is for students with career interests in apparel and accessories marketing. The focus of instruction is on the marketing of men's and women's apparel and accessories.

ADVANCED FASHION MARKETING (ME 8146)

ADVANCED FASHION MARKETING CO-OP (ME 8145) *

Prerequisite: Fashion Marketing or Marketing
Emphasis in the classroom is placed on the planning and supervisory aspects of fashion. Students take a more concentrated look at fashion terminology and trends, merchandising management, and buying techniques.
Certification: Students are eligible to sit for the National Retail Federation Customer Service Professional exam for student-selected verified credit.
MARKETING (ME 8121)

MARKETING CO-OP (ME 8120) *
Two credits, one year. Grades 11-12
Students are introduced to functions involved in the marketing of goods, services, and ideas. They study risk management, selling, promotion, pricing, purchasing, marketing information management, product/service planning, distribution, and financing. Foundation competencies include economics, human resources, and marketing and business necessary for success in marketing occupations.
Certification: Students are eligible to sit for the National Retail Federation Customer Service Professional exam for student-selected verified credit.
ADVANCED MARKETING (ME 8131)
One credit, one year. Grade 12 Prerequisite: Marketing or Fashion Marketing
ADVANCED MARKETING CO-OP (ME 8130) *
Two credits, one year, Grade 12; Prerequisite: Marketing or Fashion Marketing
This course enables students to apply their knowledge of marketing functions to the development of advanced competencies in retail merchandising, market research, management, and business ownership. This course prepares students for full-time employment in the marketing and distribution fields.
Certification: Students are eligible to sit for the National Retail Federation Customer Service Professional exam for student-selected verified credit.
REAL ESTATE MARKETING (ME 8191)
One credit, one year, Grade 12; Prerequisite: Marketing
Students gain competencies related to sales ability, real estate financing, ownership rights, investments, and ethics. This course enables students to meet the goal of completing a career path prior to graduation.
Certification: Students are eligible to sit for the Virginia Real Estate Exam for student-selected verified credit.

CLASSROOM ON THE MALL
RETAIL OPERATIONS (ME 8223)

RETAIL OPERATIONS CO-OP (ME 8222) *
Three credits, one year. Grades 11-12
Students meet at the mall for a double class period each day to receive classroom instruction in the retail industry. Studies include window display, merchandising, loss prevention, marketing research, and retail sales. Co-op students engage in retailing activities with mall merchants and receive assistance with job placement. Transportation is the responsibility of the student.
Certification: Students are eligible to sit for the National Retail Federation Customer Service Professional exam for student-selected verified credit.

RETAIL MANAGEMENT (ME 8243)

This advanced course is designed to enhance the retail knowledge of students who have successfully completed Retail Operations. Students meet daily at the mall for a double class period to study management principles, retail promotions, mall management, personnel policies, and business ownership. Transportation is the responsibility of the student.
Certification: Students are eligible to sit for the National Retail Federation Customer Service Professional exam for student-selected verified credit.

HOTEL OPERATIONS AND MANAGEMENT
HOTEL OPERATIONS (ME 8161)

HOTEL OPERATIONS CO-OP (ME 8160) *
Three credits, one year, Grades 11-12
This class is designed to give students hands-on experience in the hotel business. Students meet at a hotel for a double class period each day to receive classroom instruction. Studies include all aspects of hotel operations: front desk procedures, reservation procedures, food preparation, table waiting, housekeeping, sales and marketing, accounting, and security. Students also work with the hotel staff during class time. Transportation is the responsibility of the student.
Certification: Students are eligible to sit for the National Retail Federation Customer Service Professional exam for student-selected verified credit.

HOTEL MANAGEMENT (ME 8163)

HOTEL MANAGEMENT CO-OP (ME 8162) *
Three credits, one year, Grade 12 Prerequisite: Hotel Operations
Students learn how to manage staff, monitor financial aspects, and maintain ongoing operations in the hotel industry. Hands-on experience is gained within the hotel industry. This class uses the American Hotel/ Motel Association curriculum and provides the opportunity for students to be certified as hospitality supervisors, a national recognition program. Transportation is the responsibility of the student.

COOPERATIVE EDUCATION (CO-OP)
Cooperative Education (CO-OP) is the supervised on-the-job instructional phase of an occupational preparation program. Students attend school for all or part of the day and work in an approved marketing position part of the day. The teacher-coordinator and marketing training sponsor (employer) develop an individualized training plan that identifies learning experiences according to the student's career objective. Transportation is the responsibility of the student. Benefits of the co-op placement include work experience, credit toward graduation and paid employment.
